Poe's dialog was well scripted and poetic and dramatic, he only yells the f word once and that is when he is in such a state of despair and horrendus panic that it fits perfectly, it shows there was no other string of words that he could put together to express what he was feeling, because it was once, and at a moment of great emotion it is used very well, because that is not something Poe would do, but he was forced into it by the strenuous situation, and he doesnt talk like that for the rest of the movie.
