Abbott and Costello
Meet the Killer, Boris Karloff
(1949) Pressbook

I was watching Abbott and Costello Meet the Invisible Man last night. I still chuckle at the silly gags. That made me start thinking I’d like to catch Abbott and Costello Meet the Killer, Boris Karloff, so I pulled out the pressbook to prepare. There is nothing more so 1940s than seeing Boris Karloff or Bela Lugosi wearing a turban and tux. The article titled Karloff Still Haunted by Monster Role is worth a gander.

Charlie Chan at the Opera (1936) Pressbook

Black Camel (with Bela Lugosi) and Charlie Chan at the Opera (with Boris Karloff), are two of the best Chan movies. Currently, you can see both on YouTube. I strongly recommend them. I realize for many that Charlie Chan reflects a less politically correct age, but I would only recommend you re-evaluate this very large body of work, especially with  Warner Oland, arguably the best Charlie Chan (even though he was Swedish). An essential reference work to aid you is Charlie Chan at the Movies:History, Filmography, and Criticism by Ken Hanke.

Manicomio (Madhouse) 1946
Boris Karloff

This Mexican lobby card is puzzling. The inset scene is from Boris Karloff’s The Terror, but the title translates to Boris Karloff’s Bedlam. The jumble of illustrations seems like a different lobby card was used and Karloff’s face was added for obvious reasons (hint: El Maestro Del Terror) to create this one. Still colorful enough to catch attention. I don’t recall seeing big…chains…in The Terror either.

Pressbook: Ghost in the Invisible Bikini (1966)

Originally titled Pajama Party in a Haunted House, this last of the beach party pictures from AIP (although there's no beach, just a pool), left AIP unhappy after wrap-up, so Boris Karloff and Susan Hart were called in to film scenes that would be added into the movie (Wikipedia). Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon didn't make it into this one, although they appear in the other six beach movies.
