Torture? Torture? As Memorial Day and our Mexican Lobby Card Marathon draws to a close, at least these people didn't have to go to work the next day!
The tagline to Bela Lugosi's Dracula is "the strangest love story ever told." No way. THIS is the strangest; and the kookiest Mexican lobby card I've see. And yes, the 1970s wasn't all that good for horror movies.
The 1970s produced two memorable vampire characters (and their actors) within a contemporary setting: Count Yorga and Blacula.
I fell in love with this. Again, striking use of greenish colors to denote danger and evil, and contrasted against the frilly dressed Go-Go girls and the bright colors spotted above a black background, this is a beautifully executed composition of exploitation with style. Certainly, much more artfully done than Al Adamson's movies.
I grew up wishing I could look like Steve Reeves. Every Sunday I'd watch him on the local TV station (I think it was WOR 9) and dream of women swooming at my sandaled feet. Now I mostly dream of having more hair. Times change.
