Tony Rivers says “Here’s the AIP pressbook for How to Make a Monster and Teenage Caveman and this time it’s 16 pages. The comic strip page has ordering info for the strip on the back (usually the extra page is one sided – blank on the other side) and it also has a two-page letter with advertising tips too.” Great tagline: It will scare the living yell out of you!

and Blood of Dracula
Another wonderful American International double bill, folder-styled, pressbook from the Tony Rivers collection. From Tony: "All these AIP pressbooks from this era had an extra page (I Was a Teenage Werewolf had the page with ads showing the werewolf's face while How to Make a Monster had the comic strip page in color.) While I don't have that page in my pressbook for I Was a Teenage Frankenstein, I found a small picture of it online and am enclosing it as the last page. Movie Pressbook: Mothra (1961)
Mothra, Yojimbo, and Rodan are my three favorite movies from Toho Studios. This Mothra pressbook is one large sheet folded to form 8 pages, but the Showmanship and ad mat pages are actually printed across 2 pages each, so that's why these scans only show 5 pages.

I was very disappointed with this movie. My favorite novel is Ray Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes. This movie didn't live up to it. What irritates me the most is how stodgy the direction is, even with Bradbury's screenplay.

Movie Pressbook: The Monster and the Ape (1945)
This serial contains two horror staples: an ape and a robot. I love it. Forget the story, I just want to see the ape and the robot beat each other up. Hey! Wait a minute…what if you put a zombie up against an ape? I think I just got the new spook show theme for the 21st Century!
Bride of the Gorilla (1951) Pressbook
Bride of the Gorilla, written and directed by Curt Siodmak. Apes, girls, what's not to love? Steve Calvert played the gorilla, but he only appeared toward the end so he didn't get a credit. A production note on Wikipedia says "Edward G. Robinson Jr. was originally cast for the movie but was fired by the producers after his arrest for writing a bad check for $138 to the Laguna Beach Garage." Lucky him. Raymond Burr and Lon Chaney Jr. also starred. And notice, I managed to avoid any "second banana" jokes!

Note: As mentioned in Part 1, pages 9 and 10 (page 10 is the first page shown here) had a picture clipped, which impacts some of the articles and the Shooting “The Animal Word” With Camera feature on these pages. “Fabulous tie-ins” is an understatement. From store displays, toys, food, books, puzzles, clothing, trading cards, and more, Disney tied The Black Hole to an amazing assortment of merchandise. My favorite is the model kit for Maximilian. I enjoyed putting it together and displaying it.
