Halloween Novelty
Halloween Animated Spookhouse Novelty
I’m Going to Get You!
A Halloween animated novelty that plays like a spookhouse ride. This was the first one that started my collection. I picked it up quite a few years ago (at an Eckerd or Rite Aid Pharmacy, I believe). No maker information is given for it except the “Made in China” sticker on the back. The clever spookhouse ride design of the box really sets the tone for the creepy skeleton pushing through the doors while the soundtrack says “I’m going to get you!”
Halloween Animated Granny in Rocking Chair
I found this charming animated rocking granny (or crone, take your pick) at Walgreens this year. She's so feisty!
Halloween 2014: Target Stores
The past few years Target has focused more on party decorations than quirky-fun-quotient Halloween items, but whatever they put on the shelves it usually has style. Skeletons and skulls are always a staple too, and this year I’d say the Skull Totem is my favorite, followed by the Talk-back Skull. The light-up eyes owl also turns its head and hoots, which is attention getting, and the Day of the Dead decorations are nice accent pieces. The Haunted House in Dome has bats swirling around when you press the button. One thing to note: the Talk-back Skull is very presentable as a showpiece, but check the back of the plastic dome before you buy one. There’s a screw that holds the skull to the dome and some domes were badly cracked around the screw.

Animated Rocking Granny
and Haunted Tree
Found some more fun decorations for my Halloween home at Walgreens. This year, so far, has been stellar at providing decorations, blow-ups, and animatronic toys to spook the neighbors with. I’ll have a video of the Animated Rocking Granny (not a granny I’d like to have, mind you) and the Animated Haunted Tree posted soon, but they’re keepers for sure. I couldn’t resist. The large banjo playing skeleton is really cool, too, but I have a smaller version that takes up less space. But definitely a good table topper choice if you’re throwing a party.

Monstrous Boxes and Floor Mats
These floor mats at Dollar Tree stores are very thin, so I’d not expect much walking on them. But for Halloween, you could put them out as table mats, floor mats, or as backdrops for that table-top little foggy maker or zombie-head cheese dip bowl. Go ahead, be creative. And these decorative boxes (they come in three sizes), are great for displaying your candy treats for party guests.

Monstrous Lenticular Decorations
Once again, Dollar Tree Stores have some unique Halloween decorations. This year I found these lenticular monster faces. Lenticular means they’re holographic 3D, which is a really cool effect. Unfortunately you can’t see the 3D depth in these flat pictures, but they are impressive. Note that the Frankenstein Monster has his neck bolts NOT on his neck, and his Bride has neck bolts, even though she DOESN’T. I won’t even quibble about the exposed brain for Frankie. Still a treat to add to your Halloween collection.

Spooky Phone, Witch Way Flight School
and Chia Zombies
Found these entertaining Halloween treats at Home Depot today. The Spooky Phone is killer. Scary sayings when you pick up the handset (or set the sensor), and the eyes on the skull light up. The Witch Way Flight School lights up as the witches fly around overhead. The Chia Zombies are wild and cool looking enough to keep out all year long. Nicely made items and fun additions to your decorative endeavors.
